In late 2008 I put together a quartet called East Side. We did two albums. The original lineup was myself, Matt, Michael and Clint Hoover on harmonica.
It was a good group and was starting to gather a following. I especially like the first album which was done in the old “Blue Note” way of recording the group “live in the studio”. Then Clint moved to Pittsburgh.
I had a lot of new material to record with this group in mind when Clint left. So the first move was to ask saxophonist Doug Haining to join. Doug was a good friend and a fine player. We did some gigs and recorded a couple of tracks but Doug just had too many irons in the fire. We did manage to record a few songs though and this is one. This was also a “live in the studio” recording though l had Doug add some harmony part overdubs on the in and out head which gives the illusion of a bigger production.
