This has been a favorite time of year for me since I was a kid. By the age of twelve Edgar Allan Poe was my favorite writer and Washington Irving’s “Sleepy Hollow” tale was one I knew well. So I have fond memories of the season.
This song and video have an appropriate atmosphere for this time of year. The lyrics are meant to address the existential fears brought on by the dualistic world (good and bad or yin and yang etc.). The implication is that (as the stoics have taught) most fears are baseless and phantom.
This also happens to be one of the most watched videos, so it must have some small appeal.
