I have always loved the Raymond Chandler detective stories and, of course, Philip Marlowe is the star of those tales. I wrote this piece to reflect that interest. (Which means a 1940’s film noir atmosphere.)
There’s something about the harmonic changes on this one that I thought that (for me) was special. It’s fun to play and I have not given up on the tune. Maybe someday, if I gather up the ambition, I could create a more fully “orchestrated” version of this piece. (I admire Gary and Patrick for their fearless improvs on the rather wayward changes on first-take).
