When I was very young my Aunt Louise gave me a tiny wooden windmill she brought back from a trip to Holland. I still have that little wooden windmill. In my mind windmills (especially old ones) remain a powerful symbol for some unexplained reason.
With this song I was also thinking of “windmills” in the Don Quixote context. In Chapter Eight of the book Don Quixote mistakenly perceives windmills for giants and and attempts to fight them. “Tilting at windmills” has come to represent our own absurdly impractical battles with imaginary enemies. Timely concept I think.
Headphones really help a lot on this one.
Be kind.
Love,
Reyn
