The 1993 album simply entitled “Reynold” was a completely solo recording mainly recorded at Paisley Park. It had long been a personal goal to record an entire album where I sang and played every part. My early guideposts like Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder and Todd Rundgren had all made completely solo recordings.
This video and song are intentionally light-hearted and uplifting. We all can stand a little light-hearted uplift right now.
Sometimes the narrative aspect of a song needs a sort of acting job and the singer creates a voice other than his own to speak “in character.” Randy Newman does that well. That’s what I aimed at here.
