The backstory on this piece is…
When I was very young my Aunt Louise gave me a tiny wooden windmill she brought back from a trip to Holland. I still have that little wooden windmill and you can see it at the very start of the video (thumbnail).
In my mind windmills (especially old ones) remain a powerful symbol for some unexplained reason.
With this song I was also thinking of “windmills” in the Don Quixote context. In Chapter Eight of the book Don Quixote mistakenly perceives windmills for giants and and attempts to fight them.
The term, “tilting at windmills” has come to represent absurdly impractical battles with imaginary enemies. Delusional and self-centered behavior.
Sound familiar?
I really like the way Mo plays on this one especially at the long ending. I also like wordless vocal additions but I wish I would have had a more choral thing happening here with female voices added.
I can’t really hear anything I’ve done without thinking about how it can be improved. I also think I should have “swung” the “Swing” sections more.
But, that’s life.

Be kind.
