I was listening to a Debussy piano piece one day and a certain melodic shape or fragment stuck with me and this piece resulted. Patterns form clarity and that has a parallel to the designs made from seemingly random elements in the universe.
An “etude” is a short musical composition that is typically designed to improve technique but still has an independent musical value.
