This song has never appeared on an album and really only exists as this YouTube video.

John Hammond created the video using images from all points past in my musical and personal history. I gave him pretty much free rein on “Who Knows?”.

One of these images go back to when I was about 2 years old. There is even a brief glimpse of my parents from a few years before I was invented. And, of course, there an images from various points of my “career”.

“Who Knows?” is an open-ended existential question. The ever-changing and meandering harmonic movement sets a “searching” mood and the final chord is a real question mark. The improv guitar solo is relatively simple but has a naturally evolving and organic roll to it that I like.

The melody and harmony is very much what I’ve been up to the past decade. The implied 2/4-6/8 groove is one that always feels good for me. It may sound pretentious but I really intended to create a “tone poem”.

As always please try headphones.

Take care.

Be kind.

Love,
Reyn
