Played the final outdoor gig of the summer last month. It was a nice gig at the Edina Centennial Lakes outdoor theatre. It was well attended and the trio (Gary Schulte, Jeff Brueske, and I played well.) thanks to everyone who came out to the 7 or 8 outdoor shows this summer. Hopefully when this horrid situation resolves more gigs will be possible.
Sometimes I write and record a tune that I think really has something but it doesn’t fully connect with the audience at large. This is one such tune. I still like it but even when I put it in the live set it only gets a lukewarm reception.
Oh well, that is the life of a musician for you.
“Rare Avis” means rare bird and that is what I pictured when I put this song together. The opening and closing D major “cascade” is supposed to simulate the bird ascending into the sky.
Stay safe. Be well. Peace.
