This is a rare one. Even I forgot about it. It has a very “jaunty” groove.

Al Asmus, Jeff Engholm, and I had a trio for about one year at the turn of the millennium. We did one album that drifted into obscurity called “Three Piece Suite.” (That CD is on Amazon, I recently noticed).

I have the utmost respect for those two musicians. The trio was difficult to maintain as I lived in the Twin Cities area and the other two were St. Cloud residents. This tune was the only foray into this kind of groove with that trio and was recorded after we had already disbanded.

We had not rehearsed this one much, so that is why you hear me say “coming up” at the end of my solo to let Al and Jeff know the “head” is coming up again.

The late great jazz broadcaster Leigh Kamman was fond of this tune and regularly played it on his Saturday night radio show.

Be well.
Be kind.
Love,
Reyn
