The subject matter is a common one for me: the proverbial “is life random or design” question.
I tried to create a “hipster” mood and scene because of the somewhat ponderous lyric. I was thinking of a vibe, not unlike some Greenwich Village beatnik cafe in the 1960s.
To my mind, there is also a Leonard Bernstein influence here, too. That is the more “Broadway” or “West Side Story” Bernstein as a composer. But that might not seem obvious. There even might be a little “Todd” in this too, as one friend pointed out, and though I was not thinking that, I can see his point.
This one is better with headphones.
