Some patterns form a clarity…

I was listening to a Debussy piano piece one day and a certain melodic shape struck me and this piece resulted.

Some patterns form a clarity and that has a parallel to the designs made from seemingly random elements in the universe.

This “random/order” question has bothered me since I was a kid and by chance saw a film about “entropy in the universe”. I didn’t fully understand the concept at the time but enough of it got through to freak me out a bit.

Personally, I’m an “order” type of guy and this is why my music leans toward the more orderly and controlled. If I couldn’t control the seemingly wild chaos of the world around me I vowed to be bent on creating some small corner of orderliness.

An “etude” is a short musical composition that is typically designed to improve technique but still have an independent musical and expressive value.

(Stay peaceful but determined to mitigate cruelty and ignorance.)

Be kind.

Love,
Reyn
