This is truly one of my favorite recordings and I send it out on a yearly basis because it is. It comes close to my “ideal vision” for the piece and that doesn’t always happen. The mood and harmony work together well. September is the month I bring this one back because I have clear autumn afternoon memories of walking this street in my early high school years. There is a definite “autumnal sparkle” to the track.
I grew up in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
The Main Street of St. Cloud is St. Germain Street. This piece recollects those memories and the late 1960’s vibe I associate with that time including some musical hints of Bacharach and Jobim.
I have not lived in St. Cloud for more than 40 years but I would like to preserve some early impressions. This is as close as I can get.
