It is very unusual for me to write a song from such a personal viewpoint. I feel more comfortable when I take a more generalized point of view. That is not to say that I am against addressing important topics but the “confessional” lyric isn’t something that should be the first choice in my opinion. This song does come pretty close to a “confessional” lyric.
The guitar solo quotes Jimi Hendrix (“Wind Cries Mary”) which, seeing as how my wife’s name is Mary, is one more added detail which shifts this song into the personal statement column.
