I have been revisiting several tracks from the 1995 CD album “House of Curiosities”. It was the follow-up to “Global Home Movie” which remains my most successful recording in terms of reviews, airplay, and sales (and a MN Music Award nomination).
However, I got a little carried away with the lyrics on “House of Curiosities.” I was trying to put together a “concept” that would have been better served with simpler lyrics and a little less arcane idea. Oh well, live and learn.
But songs like this one, “Life Is Short” and “Paint Your Own World” have some nice music, solid backing tracks, and a great band. Consequently, I have tried to “resurrect” these recordings by creating videos for them in the past year. In retrospect, I especially appreciate the attempt to produce a little “Ravelian” harmony on this one.
