I have been revisiting several tracks from the 1995 CD album “House of Curiosities.”

With that album I was trying to put together a musical “play” or story.

I guess the general theme is that we are each (eventually) our own best teacher/guru in a bewildering and chaotic world.

Unfortunately, since the time I wrote the piece the world has just become more chaotic and I continue to struggle to be my own “guru”.

This is the opening track of the “narrative” and is meant to “welcome” listeners to the story.

Though, in retrospect, I see how I missed the mark a bit lyrically, the music, nonetheless, mostly worked very well. The lyrics make more sense in the context of the whole “story” as presented on the album. The whole project was a bit ambitious but I am now really glad I attempted it.

There is a sort of “magic” in how the instruments and vocal harmonies used here combine to create an appropriately “dreamy” atmosphere.

I very much like the sonic landscape on this one.

Be kind.

Love,
Reyn
